Using OSX LION on MacBookPro and iPad 3 dosen't recognise DVD and and crashes on play.

I suspect I have the same problem. The app finds the server and recognizes that the server has a DVD, but it says "DVD Title: cannot be read" and "Length: 0h:0m:0s". If I press the play button then the app crashes.

I am running Lion 10.7.3 on a MacBook Pro, and the iPad is running iOS 5.1 (9B176). The server and the client are the latest, since I just installed everything from the website and iTunes an hour ago.

Very disappointed that this didn't work on the very first DVD I tried. Having paid NOK 70 ($12) for this app I hope to at least get some tech support, if not a working app.

I'm sorry that you're having problems here.

It is meant to run for longer. Please delete the free app and download it again from the app store. Please also check that you have the latest version of the server available from www.floatingcube.com/DVDPlayer.

Hi guys,

Great software, apart from "couple" of hickups along the way...

1) Getting the installation to work on XP host is not for faint hearted... Got it working on my 3rd attempt.
2) Once up and running, it was wonderful, well running at low resolution, however not really noticeable.
3) 15 minutes into my DVD video started to skip and then eventually stop. IPad nearly froze, it became unusable... eventually I was able to quit the application, restart IPad... re-run the app... found the DVD again, however when tried to play it was just stuck there. Restarted IPad, restarted PC... no help. Can't get it to go again...

In summary, I really enjoyed it for the 15minutes I ended up being able to watch my DVD... or is the FREE version meant to do this and full work for longer?

DVD player crashes on Play iPad3

I'm using Win7 and VLC 2.0.1 and an iPad3 to play DVDs. Strange thing I've noted is that when the iPad connects to the comptuer.. the computer spends allot of time trying to read the FLOPPY DISK (yes I use it) drive when I click on Play. When I run the test it gives me the option of testing B and C.. there is no A test. Both of those work fine from what I can tell? Not totally sure what B is supposed to do.. as all it does is open up VLC and plays the DVD. When I click play the iPad reports that its getting the DVD info from the server and then crashes out.

Aside from that the screen doesn't look quite like I would expect it to normally look like.. but I don't know if that's just got to do with the way the iPad3 screen's resolution is compared to the iPad2 and 1.

iPad app crashes when attempting to watch DVD

The server installs correctly and TEST B is fine. (Mac Mini - OSX Lion)

The iPad 3 (and original iPad) can see the Mac ok - but doesnt get the DVD info - pressing the 'Play' triange button underneath the black screen results in an immediate crash.

The solution is simple:
Insert DVD
Quit MacDVD program.
Make sure VLC is quit.
Run DVDPlayerServer

Then it will work fine.

But if you do:
Run DVDPlayerServer,
Insert DVD
Quit MacDVD program.

You'll get the crash on the ipad app.

Trapping this crash and reporting a sensible message would help user experience here.

Jerky playback

I am getting very jerky playback. I'm running DVDPlayer for iPad on a Mac Mini using OS X 10.6. I had no problem with the iPad app finding the server and playing the DVD. It's just that the video pauses for a split second constantly during playback. I saw another user's comment about this issue on PAL DVD's, however, I'm using NTSC DVD's. I would definitely buy the full app if this could be resolved. Is there anything I can do to enable smooth video playback?

We're having a bit of trouble here. Just installed the app on an iPad2, and the server on an iMac running Lion.

The app is able to detect the server and that it has a disk, but no data regarding the disk.
The Mac DVD player software can read the disk and play it normally, as can VLC, but when we try to run Test B we get a permissions error attempting to read the drive.

I'm running osx 10.7.2 and ios 5.01 on the ipad. I downloaded dvd player today ( and paid ) and I just can't see any server available on the server list inside the app...
I've tried some hints I found around without success... Help/advise is welcome.

Suggestion to the developers: this is a really great idea, but b4 you throw the app out and sell it for 8 euros, I would want to be 100 % sure that is really runs smooth and hassle free...

App crashes on iPad when setting No Subtitles

I try to turn off subtitles on the latest version of either DVDPlayer or DVDPlayerFree for the iPad and the app crashes. This worked on the prior version. I am running the latest version of the Server on a Mac (10.7.2).

Is this a known problem?

Player Server crashed Vista

Not sure if this was coincidental but it needs a post.

Dell XPS 420 running Vista. The system was running "Air Video" server when I installed the Floating Cube DVD player server. The PC crashed and would not reboot. Now I'm not sure if this was coincidental but I could not repair the vista system registry files.

Fearing a complete rebuild and lost of data on my hard drive (failed to backup for at least 12 months) I upgraded to a new hard drive and loaded Windows 7.

I installed "Air Video" and this work perfect to my Apple TV. I installed Bonjour and confirm both folders where installed. I then installed DVD player server but this time it would not run saying my Bonjour needs to be reinstalled before DVD player. I did this twice with the same errors.

Is there a conflict between these two servers "Air Video" and "DVDPlayer"

Is there any news about the new Windows edition of the DVD-server?

I still have problems as mentioned above with starting the DVD after that the PC is located correctly and the DVD is analysed (just the DVD Title is missing: "Cannot be read").
When tapping the button on my iPhone it works for 10 seconds with loading (and the dos-command-screen appears on my pc). Then it returns to the screen with the start-button.

I would be glad if anybody could help.

I'm having trouble using the DVD player on my iPod.

First I tried to install DVD PLAYER SERVER on my PC was no longer able to use Win 7 Pro x64. Every time I tried to install my PC was frozen with the message of uploading files and nothing else happened, I tried to leave the PC on to do more installation work one day he left on all night and morning when I check the installation was in same point and with the same mark.
What amazed me was that one of my last attempts were that he was no good success when I went to check it without showing any message from the completed installation DVD PLAYER SERVER was installed not know now you know if the installation is 100% OK.
Today performed the test (B and C) and all showed me a positive result, the more you try to play the DVD on my iPod does not have any success when I open the DVD chapter there is a screen as if you were charged for several minutes and nothing is played when I stop and tried again on my PC screen appears an error message from VLC where it says:

VLC crash reporting
VLC media player just crashed. Do you want to send a bug report to the developers team?

And the iPod continues with the screen with something.

I tried uninstalling the DVD can not PLAEYER SERVER more just like installing the PC crashes trying to remove the software also completely locks the PC.

Please would you help me at least make the app work on the iPod or remove it from my PC.

Yes, I have the same problem. The only thing I get is No DVD Recognized.

I'm Using Lion 10.7.2 too.

When I bought the app, there was no information, Lion wouldn't work.

Is there any update or other help?

My System Confifguration: iMac 27", OS Lion 10.7.2. If I start DVDPlayerServer and insert a DVD, I see the Server-Mac listet on the iPad. But hitting the servers Tab shows only "No DVD recognized".

I see the same effect when I start DVDPlayer Server on my MacBook (same OS).

Is there a solution for this problem?

Since I change my OS from leopard to lion, the Program DVDPLAYER for Ipad reconize de DVD but don't send the image and audio to Ipad, my question is simple....There some kind of problem use the DVD Player for Ipad with Os Lion, there some kind of upgrade to use it and I watch my dvd on Ipad again??

I'm a new member...This app is very promising.

I understand that you're working on full DVD functionality with ISO files including full menu capabilities eg: special features, episode selection if it's a TV show on DVD.

if you have VLC player installed on your system prior to installing the dvdplayer server, you've got to uninstall both the VLC and the Server. and then re-install the server. Everything should work fine afterwards.

Got it working on Windows 7 Pro 64bit.

Video plays on iPad, however iTouch (v3) flashes and then stops (and command window closes on PC). The DVD is PAL.

On Windows XP, everything seems to be loading OK. The iPad even knows if there is a DVD in the drive (icon changes from grey to blue), but when I select the server from the iPad, the PC keeps accessing the floppy drive (yes I know, it's an older PC) as tho it has forgotten which drive the DVD is in. I put a floppy in the drive to shut it up, but nothing happens and the iPad sits on "Loading DVD Info".
